Blackstone has completed its previously announced investment in Eurowind Energy, committing up to DKK 15 billion to accelerate growth across Europe.
Blackstone’s investment in Eurowind Energy has closed following receipt of required regulatory approvals.
Blackstone Infrastructure now holds a 24.7% stake in the company alongside its existing owners.
The investment will support Eurowind Energy’s ambition to become a leading pan-European independent power producer. The company expects to deliver on average 1.5 GW of new wind, solar and battery capacity annually through 2030.
“Closing this transaction marks an important new chapter for Eurowind Energy. We have built a strong European platform over the past 20 years, and with Blackstone as a long-term partner, we now have the financial strength to significantly increase the number of renewable energy projects we develop, build and own, thereby contributing to the expansion of renewable energy capacity in Europe,” said Gert Vinther Jørgensen, Chair of the Board of Eurowind Energy and Group CEO of Norlys.
“We are pleased to complete our investment in Eurowind Energy and partner with the company's outstanding management team. We believe Eurowind is exceptionally well positioned to help meet Europe's increasing demand for affordable, reliable and sustainable power, and we look forward to supporting its next phase of growth,” added Adam Kuhnley, Co-Head of European Investments, Blackstone Infrastructure.
Blackstone's investment will support Eurowind Energy's continued growth across Europe, enabling the company to accelerate the development of new renewable energy projects, increase long-term ownership of its assets and pursue strategic acquisitions that complement its existing platform.
“Having Blackstone on board is a confirmation of our strategy. We will continue on the same course, but with Blackstone alongside us, we can accelerate substantially. We expect to construct approximately four-five times as much new capacity every year compared with 2025. So, fasten your seat belts,” said Jens Rasmussen, CEO, co-founder and co-owner of Eurowind Energy.
New Board Appointments
As part of the investment, Blackstone will appoint Adam Kuhnley to Eurowind Energy’s Board of Directors, with Yannick Heyl as a Board observer.
“We are very pleased to welcome Blackstone as a shareholder and Adam and Yannick to the Board. At a time when Europe’s need for stable, competitive and locally produced energy has become increasingly clear, Blackstone brings significant and scalable experience from energy and infrastructure investments, as well as the financial capacity to support Eurowind Energy’s growth and help accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in Europe,” says Gert Vinther Jørgensen.
